Domestic partner benefits are a key component of Travel Insured’s ongoing service to the Gay & Lesbian travel community. “Domestic Partner” is defined in Travel Insured coverage as a person 18 years or older with whom the insured person has been living in a spousal relationship for at least 10 continuous months.
When documented, a domestic partner can obtain benefits under the WTP policy definition of “family member” for purposes of coverage.
The following Worldwide Trip Protector Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption benefits extend to the “Domestic Partner”:
- Waiver of the “Pre-Existing Medical Condition” exclusion. This is any injury, sickness or condition of the insured, a traveling companion, or any family members, including a domestic partner. It is Pre-Existing when medical advice, diagnosis or treatment was given during 180 days immediately before the policy effective date.
- Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption for any Sickness, Accident, Injury or Death to the Insured or a Family member can be covered. A family member, under the policy definition, includes a documented Domestic Partner.
- Under Travel Insured’s WTP Emergency Evacuation, the policy can pay for one person, chosen by the insured, to travel to and from a hospital where the sick or injured person is confined with no attending travel companion. This can cover up to the cost of a roundtrip economy airline ticket.
